License terms
As of 24 October 2026
1. Who is who
These terms apply between you and BYTEPOTATO UG (haftungsbeschränkt), , , ("we"). You buy Keyhatch from Link (Link, LLC), Stripe's merchant of record, under Link's terms; Link handles payment, receipt and VAT. These terms govern how you may use Keyhatch.
2. What the license covers
One license is for one natural person and may be used on up to five Macs that this person uses. It covers all versions 1.x, including their updates. A later major version may cost extra; versions you have keep working without time limit.
Companies need one license per person who uses Keyhatch. From five licenses there is a 20 % discount; write to [email protected].
3. Trial
Keyhatch can be used for 7 days without a license. After that, keys keep working with approval on the Mac; remote approval, rules that allow without asking and log export pause until a license is added. Keyhatch never locks you out of your keys.
4. What you may not do
You may not sell or pass on license files, and you may not remove, change or circumvent the license check. The source code, once published, is governed by the Elastic License 2.0, which contains the same restriction.
5. Withdrawal and refund
You can withdraw within 14 days of the purchase without giving a reason and get the full price back, on our withdrawal page or by mail to [email protected]. The license is then revoked. This applies to all customers, worldwide, and does not limit any statutory right you have.
6. Updates and support
We provide security updates for at least 5 years after your purchase. Support is by mail.
7. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation and limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of contract. Otherwise liability is excluded. Statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.
Keyhatch protects keys, but it cannot protect a Mac that is already compromised (see the security whitepaper). Keep a second way into important servers.
8. Law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live remains in force.
