Before you write
Open Keyhatch, Setup, Diagnostics, or run keyhatch doctor in Terminal. It checks the agent, the socket, your SSH configuration and paired devices, and often says what is wrong. Copy its output into your mail; it contains no keys.
ssh asks for a password or says permission denied
Run keyhatch doctor. Most often the key is not yet added on the server, or another agent is set in ~/.ssh/config before the Keyhatch block.
The iPhone gets no requests
Check that notifications for Keyhatch are allowed, that Keyhatch is allowed in your Focus modes (Settings, Focus, Apps) and that remote approval is not paused in the menu bar. The Mac always asks in parallel, so you are never stuck.
I bought on one Mac and want it on another
Open the license file on the other Mac too. One license covers up to five Macs that you use yourself.
A request went through without asking
You approved an earlier request for a period of time (for example 15 minutes). Until it ends, the same app may use the same key for the same server again. End it in the menu bar under Keyhatch, End All Approvals, or lock your screen: every screen lock ends all approval windows.
Can I approve on an Apple Watch without a passcode?
No. Keyhatch approves only on a watch with a passcode, otherwise anyone holding it could approve. Set one on the watch under Settings, Passcode. Denying works without a passcode.
